Dr. Zhu received his Ph.D. in Preventive Veterinary Medicine from the College of Veterinary Medicine, Nanjing Agricultural University. He has worked and visited at Nanjing Medical University, China, the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, USA and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO) at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. His research focuses primarily on swine diseases and immunity, as well as comparative immunology between pigs and chickens. He has published over 120 papers in journals such as Immunity, EMBO Journal, Journal of Immunology, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of Virology, Virulence, Cell Reports, Frontiers in Immunology, Microbiology Spectrum, Viruses, and Transboundary and Emerging Diseases. His work has been cited more than 4,200 times, with an H-index of 36. Dr. Zhu has served as principal investigator for four General Programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and has led or participated in multiple projects under the National Key Research and Development Program of China. He holds three authorized patents. He was awarded the “Distinguished Professor of Jiangsu Province” in 2016 and was the Leading Talent of the “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team of Jiangsu Province” in 2018. Dr. Zhu is currently a review expert for the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a council member of the Biotechnology Branch of the Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, and a council member of the Jiangsu Society for Immunology. He also serves as an editorial board member and peer reviewer for several academic journals.
