
Dr. Anding Zhang is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Huazhong Agricultural University. He is a recipient of the Shennong Youth Talent Program of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the New Century Excellent Talents Program of the Ministry of Education, the Hubei Provincial Distinguished Young Scholars Fund, and the Top Talent Support Program for Graduate Education at Huazhong Agricultural University.
He serves as Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Veterinary Diagnostic Reagents Development of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Vice Chair of the Poultry Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Subcommittee of the Group Standards Technical Committee of the Chinese Veterinary Medical Association, Executive Council Member of the Hubei Society for Immunology, and Expert in Animal Disease Eradication and Risk Assessment of Hubei Province. His research focuses on the etiology, pathogenic mechanisms, and integrated prevention and control technologies of animal infectious diseases. He has developed novel bacterial gene-editing technologies and elucidated the molecular mechanisms underlying Streptococcus suis-induced septicemia and toxic shock-like syndrome. He has developed diagnostic technologies for pathogens including Streptococcus suis, influenza virus, African swine fever virus (ASFV), porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), and porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), and has conducted vaccine research on Streptococcus suis disease, PRRS, PED, and other important animal infectious diseases.
