Prof./Dr. Xiaodong Wu, deputy director of China animal health and epidemiology center, member of national animal epidemic prevention expert committee, national animal health risk assessment expert committee, and national animal health Standardization Technical Committee. Dr. Wu has successively presided over and participated in national scientific research projects such as the 12th and 13th Five Year Plan. He has committed to the research on the comprehensive prevention and control technology research of important exotic animal diseases such as African swine fever (ASF), Peste des Petits Ruminants, Lumpy skin disease, and Bovine spongiform encephalopathy for more than 20 years. The diagnostic reagents of ASF and Peste des Petits Ruminants developed by his team have been widely used all over the country and played an important role in disease diagnosis and surveillance. Since the first outbreak of ASF in China on August 1, 2018, he led the team to complete the diagnosis of the suspected epidemic as soon as possible, comprehensively promote the development of diagnostic reagents and novel vaccines and provide strong technical support for the prevention and control of ASF.
