Zhe Hu is associated professor, and working in Harbin Veterinary Research Institute (HVRI),subordinated to the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS).

She mainly engaged in the study of diagnostics, immunology and epidemiology and the research and development (R&D) of kit products on the important equine infectious diseases including equine infectious anemia (EIA), equine influenza (EI), equine rhinopneumonitis (ER or EHV-1/4), equine arteritis (EA), African horse sickness (AHS), Salmonella abortus equi (S.equi) and so on.

Her work is focusing on establishing innovative, rapid and reliable etiology and serological detection methods, identifying the targets of diagnostic methods based on the immunological techniques, and establishing a series of innovative detection platforms by breaking the R&D bottleneck. And the epidemiological investigations of related diseases are also included, especially for equine infectious anemia, Glanders, equine abortion Additionally, She also carries out and the vaccine research on Salmonella abortus equi.

Her mainly R&D achievements include 15 detection kits for different equine infectious diseases. One of them was obtained the National Class II New Veterinary Drug Registration Certificate with the name of Equine Infectious Anemia Virus cELISA Antibody Test Kit. Three of them have been submitted for the application of registration, including EIA Antigen, positive control serum and negative control serum for AGID, African horse fever virus one step real-time RT-PCR detection kitand Equine herpesvirus type I real time PCR detection kit (Probe). Eleven of them have been finished R&D and all of them are on the way of production incubation prior to the application of registration, including Equine Infectious Anemia Virus Antibody Rapid Test Kit (Colloidal Gold), Colloidal gold test card for antibody against Salmonella abortus in horses and donkeys, Competitive ELISA kit for detection of antibodies against Salmonella abortus in horses and donkeys, Equine influenza cELISA antibody test kit, Equine influenza virus Antigen-captured ELISA detection kit, Equine herpesvirus type IV real time PCR detection kit (Probe), Equine arteritis virus one-step real time RT-PCR detection kit (Probe), Equine influenza virus one-step real time RT-PCR detection kit (Probe), Equine influenza virus one-step real time RT-PCR detection kit (Probe), Salmonella abortus equine real time RT-PCR detection kit (Probe)and Equine infectious anemia virus universal real time PCR detection kit (Probe). Additionally, Glanders indirect ELISA antibody detection kitand Equine arteritis indirect ELISA antibody detection kithave been finished R&D and prepared for production incubation.

She hosts one Youth of State Natural Science Fund projects, two sub-projects for both the 13th Five-Year and the 14th Five-Year National keypoint research and invention programs, and international cooperation project; and participate in one row surface of State Natural Science Fund projects and other programs. There are about 7 projects in totally. She has been published 9 papers by the first author, obtained 6 national invention patents, applied 6 national invention patents, and edited 1 book.
