
Qigai He, PhD, is a professor and doctoral supervisor at Huazhong Agricultural University. He is currently a permanent researcher in the State Key Laboratory of Agricultural Microbiology, a scientist in the disease control post of National Pig Industry Technology System. He is also the national director of the Asian Pig Veterinary Society (APVS). He is the executive director of the Chinese Society of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine (CSAVM) and the branch of pig breeding. He is mainly engaged in teaching, scientific research and clinical technical service of animal infectious diseases. He is mainly engaged in the research on the diagnosis technology and comprehensive prevention and control measures of African swine fever, porcine epidemic diarrhea, porcine pseudorabies, porcine circovirus, parvovirus, infectious pleuropneumonia and other diseases. Currently, he is undertaking the National Pig Industry Technology System Project CARS-35, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research and Development Project (focusing on the development of sIgA-ELISA kits for porcine epidemic diarrhea), international cooperation projects in Wuhan and Hubei Province (Netherlands and UK), and many domestic and foreign enterprise cooperation (commissioned) projects. Dr. He oversees the Animal Disease Diagnostic Center of Huazhong Agricultural University, which is accredited by CMA and CNAS, and can provide diagnostic services and technical training for the industry on swine, cattle and poultry diseases. He practices in the front line of pig production to provide technical services and help promote the healthy development of the farming industry.
