Michael Zeller is a bioinformatician and Assistant Professor at the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in Ames, Iowa. Dr. Zeller’s research focuses on implementing bioinformatic tools to understand the epidemiology and transmission of viral pathogens in production animals. As this research progresses and is implemented within the diagnostic setting, newer capabilities are being developed for forecasting viral disease spread and understanding pathogen phenotype, with the goal of improving proactive disease management strategies. Michael currently maintains the ISU PRRSView and ISU FLUture web platforms, both free services available to diagnostic laboratory clients for gaining further insight into swine disease and answering diagnostic questions.
