Dr. Xiaojun Wang graduated from Inner Mongolia University for the Nationalities with a degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1996. He earned his master's degree (1999) and Ph.D. degree (2003) from Harbin Veterinary Research Institute (HVRI) of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at Michigan State University from 2005 to 2010. In 2010, he returned to HVRI as a Professor and the Head of the Equine Disease Research Group. He is a WOAH-recognized expert and leads several reference laboratories: the WOAH Reference Laboratory for Equine Infectious Anaemia, the National Reference Laboratory for Equine Infectious Anaemia of China, and the National Glanders Reference Laboratory of China. His research focuses on equine infectious diseases, aiming to understand the interaction mechanisms between pathogens and their hosts, and to develop applied technologies for disease prevention and control. He has published more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has developed 60 diagnostic methods and 5 vaccines for equine infectious diseases, among which one vaccine and 4 diagnostic kits have been licensed in China.
