Dr. Monique França is an Associate Professor at the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center. She obtained her DVM from São Paulo State University (UNESP) in Brazil in 2007. She completed a Residency in Avian Diagnostics and Production Medicine at the CAHFS-UC Davis Fresno branch in 2009 and a Combined PhD and Residency in Veterinary Pathology from UGA in 2013. She is board-certified by the American College of Poultry Veterinarians (ACPV) and the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP). At the PDRC, Dr. França is involved with diagnostic service for the poultry industry, basic and applied research (mostly on infectious diseases including avian influenza and focal duodenal necrosis) and teaching (both DVM and graduate students). She has authored or co-authored 5 book chapters, 30 manuscripts in scientific journals and 87 abstracts in scientific meetings. She has received 9 awards or honors including the C. L. Davis student scholarship in veterinary pathology award in 2012 and the C.L. Davis journal award for co-authoring the best manuscript published in Veterinary Pathology in 2011. In 2019, Dr. Monique França was the recipient of the Bayer-Snoeyenbos New Investigator Award, by the American Association of Avian Pathologists given to young investigators who have made meritorious research contributions to the avian field.
